Prowess The Testament is a Washington, DC emcee who builds concept albums the way other writers build novels — with a thesis, an arc and an ending. She earned her name in battle: KRS-One gifted her the moniker after a standout performance at one of his Hip Hop Appreciation Week events, and she has since shared stages with the Wu-Tang Clan, Jay Electronica, Pharoahe Monch, Citizen Cope and Cody ChesnuTT.
Her first run of records arrived through DC's Delegation Music — *Air.Human | Breath.Divine* and *Right Where I Left It*, both 2016 — after a hiatus spent working in sub-Saharan Africa on a research grant integrating arts, music and storytelling into digital health. That double life still shapes the work: she is a fundraiser and philanthropy strategist by day, and her records read like field notes from someone who thinks in systems.
The last decade has taken her fully into her own lane. *A Tale of Two Masters* (2020) turned the conflict between motherhood, graduate school and the microphone into a *Crossroads*-inspired audio narrative. Since 2024 she has been building an anime-facing cosmology in boom bap: *Lunar Prelude: Sailor Overture* for Fake Four Inc., the Dragon Ball Z-rooted *Wolf Fang Fist*, and the twenty-track *Legend of the Moon: Deluxe*, a Sailor Moon-coded record about transformation featuring Mega Ran, Kadesh Flow, SkyBlew and Dual Core's int eighty and Mikal kHill.
She showcased at SXSW in 2025, plays the MAGFest circuit, and remains, as her own bio puts it, "part firestarter, part lunar priestess."
